Are you getting “Too Many Requests in 1 Hour” error while using ChatGPT? Here are a few fixes you might want to try.
ChatGPT is OpenAI’s chatbot that has gained popularity recently due to its ability to give fairly reliable AI-generated answers to any question you may have. However, currently ChatGPT is still in the development stage, which makes the user experience some errors and gives wrong answers.
One of the most annoying problems that users encounter is “Too Many Requests in 1 Hour. Try Again Later”. This error is said to be caused by the user asking too many questions at once, making the chatbot unable to respond. Here are a few ways that you can try to remedy the situation.

Check the status of OpenAI and/or wait a few hours
First, you need to check if this problem is on your side or OpenAI’s server. To do that, visit https://status.openai.com.
If red, orange or light green bars appear, it means there is a power failure. This you have to stop using ChatGPT a few hours ago for the network to be fixed.
But if the green bar appears, it means the service is working fine and that means the problem is on your side. You can try the workarounds listed below.
Wait for the reset
OpenAI’s chatbot can only handle so many questions from a single user in a given period of time, to manage traffic and not overload the server. The easiest way to do it is to wait until your timer resets, then you should be able to resubmit the question.
You should adjust the speed when submitting queries and keep them as simple as possible on ChatGPT as that will ensure the chatbot is not overloaded and give you the most accurate answer. This way you won’t run into timeout issues either.
You should try a new chat
If the problem persists after you have waited a while, the user should start a new conversation. You can start a new chat by going to https://chat.openai.com/chat and clicking New Chat. This button will be part of the menu on the left side.
Alternatively, if you’re in the middle of a topic inside ChatGPT’s chat window, just refresh the page and click New Chat.
Log out and clear browser cache
If your browser is full of cache and cookies are stored, ChatGPT may start to malfunction. Usually logging out and in, solves the problem. If it doesn’t log out and go to your browser settings to clear cache. Logging in after doing this will keep the chatbot working properly.

Change browser
If clearing the cache doesn’t work, then you can try switching browsers. For example, if you’re using the Chrome app, then sign out of ChatGPT on Chrome and sign in from some other browser. You might consider trying Coc Coc, Microsoft Edge, Mozilla Firefox, Brave or Safari browsers.
ChatGPT is known for providing reliable information, but since it’s a machine anyway, it can make mistakes. If you are using the answers from there for professional or educational purposes, you should verify the information with a professional in this regard prior to use.
